My seeds have hatched!

Now that the snow has melted and the ground has thawed, I finally managed to experiment with some seeds. Mostly herbs and spices; I'm not a big fan of flowers ... unless I can eat it or use it as a remedy!

Calgary is a USDA zone 3/4 depending on where you are relative to the Bow River. Most plants have a really hard time to get established, and I have to admit that I cheated somewhat by starting the seedlings indoors in my homemade *germinator* and then gradually harden them up outside. I also scattered random seeds outside to see if a few random mutant strains can cope with the hot daytime/cold night time cycles. It does help that I obtained the seeds from another gardener in a similar USDA zone (albiet more humid where she lives) and have had seedlings that I never expected to sprout!

Oh, and I also got a mini green house to keep the warmer climate seedlings and give them a chance. I'm a lazy gardener; in which I expect 80% of my seedlings to perish or fail to germinate ... but the 20% mutants that do thrive puts a smile on my face!
